FriendsWithYou/ Rainbow City Art Basel Miami

FriendsWithYou is proud to present Rainbow City: a forty piece environmental installation addressing the potency of interaction, ritual, and play. Originally commissioned by Luminato Festival of the Arts in Toronto and inspired by Holi, a festival effectuated by Hindu followers throwing brightly colored water and powder at each other, FriendsWithYou presents a vibrant collection of mutable, air- filled sculptures. Fabricated from intensely colored and receptive materials, the installation encourages visitors to be active and explore, subsequently inventing their own ritual.

Petit Bateau/ The “petite culotte”

Created in 1893 by Pierre Valton, the company was the first to manufacture cotton undergarments for WWI soldiers. Legend suggests that right after the war, while taking care of his son, Valton was inspired by a different children’s song (en Anglais): “Mummy, the little boats sailing on water, do they have legs?” The name of the brand and its icon product were born: Petit Bateau (little boat) and the petite culotte, an undergarment with cut-off legs for children. Prior to this date, children’s underwear was merely a miniature copy of their senior fellows’. The original name still defines the universe of the brand: the sailboat recalls a toy, the water allegory reflects hygiene, and the adjective “little” gives it a playful, tender angle. By 1920, Petit Bateau became a well-established brand.

Crumpled City/ Soft and waterproof

Emanuele Pizzolorusso is a Helsinki based young industrial designer
ready for new challenges and collaborations, and here his Crumpled City maps. They are soft, yet hard-wearing, waterproof and meant to be creased and crumpled. You can place the area that you’re interested in on the palm of your hand to spot street names then just screw it up, stuff it back into its case or your pocket, and carry on.

It's not a Lomo

It's not a lomo, it's not an ultra compact digital camera, it's a homemade camera!
This is the birthday gift my boyfriend gave me a few months ago, it's not a toy but a real camera.
You just have to pull down a little lever of paper and take your picture :)

Irina Troitskaya/ Surreal and poetic works

Irina Troitskaya grew up in Izhevsk, an industrial city deep into Russia. She has been drawing for as long as she can remember. Her delicate, surreal and poetic works record those fragile moments of life which hard to capture, because they vanish from our sight in a blink. She tells us stories of intimate relationships between a bear and a bird or a fish and a lion whose coexistence seems impossible, but yet true.
